This was one of the Explorama buildings, where we had meals. Notice the covered walkway... nice underfoot, and dry during rain. We didn't need to go into the open around camp.

The canopy walkway was a lot of fun! Click here for more photos of it.

One of our several excellent guides. Very knowledgable, and nice people to have around.

All mod cons: Running water (when you tipped the pitcher). Light (when the lantern is lit).
But this is "roughing it" with a difference. For a start, the pitcher "magically" filled itself, and the lanter "lit itself". And everything was immaculate, and stayed that way, in spite of the efforts of the jungle.
The "self lighting" lantern was almost too much of a good thing: I never light one, in hopes that the mosquitoes will be attracted to the light and CO2 being given out by other people's lanterns.

The dock at ExplorNapo, and the fast boats for going places. We used other, open, boats for investigating the rainforest up close. The taller tree in the Centrex of the photo is festooned with oropendola (a common bird) nests. (Learn more from Wikipedia)© TK Boyd 03/07

The main common room, at the ACTS Field Station. Screens keep the bugs at bay. The ambience is marvelous, and, as you can see from the individual just peeking into the photo at the lower left, hammocks are provided for anyone feeling ready to relax.

A plaque created by an artistic member of the Cornell's Adult Universityel group I was travelling with. There are many such plaques hanging at Explorama's ExplorNapoel lodge.© TK Boyd 03/07
My room at Ceiba tops... spotlessly clean, and airconditioned.
