This page displays photos arising from a trip to the Peruvian Amazon, but this page shows things that I came across before getting to the Amazon, or on the way back from it. (Plus a few taken in the city in the Amazon, Iquitos, where we were collected by the people who took us into the jungle. You cannot reach Iquitos by road or rail. It is cut off in the jungle, except for links by air (90 minutes from Lima) or by boat (2300 miles from the Atlantic... and a vertical drop of 55 feet.))

Panteros de Villa nature reserve, just outside Lima... near where we saw the thick-knees. Off to a great start on the first day.© TK Boyd 03/07
And then we took off to fly from Lima to Iquitos, in the interior! (Note the little town nestled on the foreground mountain flank.)© TK Boyd 03/07
