The practice stage of the Hotel Borinquen's absolutely fantastic zip line. The first... of more than a few segments... runs about 2,150 feet. It isn't quite as high as it is long... but it feels a bit like it. At the platforms between zip line segments, you sometimes see wildlife from an unusual vantage point. The editor of these pages is in the foreground, back to you, khaki shirt.

When sailing at speed over yawning chasms got a bit old, there were alternative ways to fly to make things interesting again.

How can you not like a country where dogs are as good natured, and still allowed in restaurants? And why are people so foolish? One patron who didn't like the dog's presence put together some food, lured the dog outside with it. Guess which table the dog returned to in 2 minutes. Duh. And why does anyone feed any dog at a table? The dog then begs from the next diner, one who may not like it.

At another restaurant, one of the resident dogs had a big sign on his collar: "Do not feed me- I'm on a diet!" (Which he needed!)

At Hotel Borinquen, one of the areas we wanted to visit was not close to the hotel or roads, so we traveled by horse, ATV and diesel "mule" (according to tastes) to get to the start of our walk. (The off road transport was part of what the hotel had available for the amusement of guests.) After the walk, we were met again by our transport at the other end of the bit of woods we'd visited. That was where we saw the spider monkeys.

It was okay... I'd ridden horses before... 40 years ago. We even cantered! By some happy circumstance I ended up with one of the resident ranch worker's horses (and gorgeous saddle) instead of one of the tourist hacks. He was very responsive and pleasant.

The valiant Marco takes on another challenge on our behalf. Yes- the bridge is as narrow as it looks. There were cracks in the road from earthquakes, too.
