Telouet... lesson from history

(That title will make more sense in due course!)

I can't start on the story of Telouet just now, but the link will take you to material from Wikipedia. I also heartily recommend that you read Gavin Maxwell's Lords Of The Atlas.

There is more, oh so much more to do on this. In the first image, I have, I admit, fallen to temptation, and done a tiny repair to a place where the... coving?... was damaged.  Apologies... the right hand image is a placeholder. I will try to supply a better image of the wall's exquisite beauty, in due course.

My unworthy images are from just two rooms of what was, in 1910 (ish... I need to check), a major palace of a major figure in Morocco's history.

The patterns on the wall are mosaics... small pieces (tesserae) of glazed tile.

Come back later, if you dare, for the rest of the story... which should break the heart of any art lover.
