Aerial photos taken going to or from Morocco

This is a subsidiary page. My Morocco pictures site has a main page which gives you the links you need for more.

Not fair! Although the gorgeous view of Casablanca when we arrived mostly made up for the "unfairness".

What was unfair was that I was able to see the spot where my hotel was, as we flew past, further south (and east) to where the airport for Casablanca is. And then retrace the route, but in a slow ground vehicle. Oh well.

The hotel's location was easy to spot, being right next to the container port, where you see the bright lights. I like to know where I am going ahead of time, particularly the "pre trip" things. Once in the care of whoever is organizing the trip, I am more relaxed... but still like to at least know the hotel's name. You never know when you might get separated from the group!

Having been "taunted" on the way into Morocco, I was again taunted when returning to the UK.... (the arrow points to Pagham.)

-

(The mustard line is (almost) our flightpath... yes, I put it a little too far east.)

A moment later....

-

... the arrows point to Chichester Cathedral. Really! (Maybe you had to be there, or have the image zoomable) And my home is in that frame, and easy to find, for me.

We were in a plane flying north, I was looking east. We landed a few minutes later, by air. Leaving me with a 90 minute drive to get home, having passed over it en route!

I couldn't have asked for better weather, better time of day, better seat. The following, sadly, just missed the home of a certain excellent musical, but it does include, roughly from left to right, Westminster Cathedral, Horseguards, Nelson's Column, St Martins in the Fields, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, "Big Ben", the London Eye, Waterloo Station, St Paul's Cathedral.

-

... and a moment later: Buckingham Palace and the premises of two of "my" booksellers (less easy to pick out). (We are soutwest of the Palace, looking NE). (Again, I only just missed a certain theatre. Sigh.)

-

... and a moment later, in a sequence that makes an "L": A bit of Hype Park, the Albert Memorial, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Schools of Music, Natural History Museum, V & A. And I never, on the ground, noticed the white tower with green top just north of the Natural History Museum!

-

... a moment later: looking NW towards Hyde Park (the big one), Regent's park ("above" Hyde Park), Green Park and St James' Park (middle right)

-

... and finally, about 3 miles east (and slightly north) of Heathrow: Osterley Park. (The link will take you to Wikipedia's page.) (Present building from about 1770, Queen Elizabeth I visited an earlier manor on the site.

-

From Earlier in the flight: Gibralter. Had a fabulous view of this, in part due to a course change at just the right moment. The photo has north (roughly) at the left.
