The view from my room... about 500 yards from the Acropolis. More on the room, etc, later. Do what you can to see this as large as possible on your screen, please? Maximize the browser's window. Then, in a moment, press f11. But before you do that, read the next bit: To get out of what f11 will take you into: press f11 again.
I've put Acropolis photos together on their own page, which you access by clicking the image or text below....
(The link photo, above, is of the main gate to the Acropolis, at the west end. The photo was taken from inside the complex, looking west towards the Areopagus and the Pnyx.)

First shall be last....
I landed at Athens' airport. Boarded the excellent, modern, metro. Went underground outside the heart of the city. Night fell before I came up in Monastiraki Square, 275m from my hotel, and without having to change metro lines. Climbed up to street level, went out the door, and There It Was... 30 degrees to the right of straight ahead of me. Wow. Guess taking time to visit Athens on the way back from Istanbul was worth it!
And there's more! I've put photos of some treasures at the Archaeological Museum of Greece (not to be confused with the Acropolis Museum! Or others!) together on their own page, which you access by clicking the image or text below....
