My apologies to him and you for some technical deficiencies in the following... but the glorious Colorado Rockies made the pictures still of interest, I hope??
This only hints at the sublime beauty of this ridge. The yellows were alive.

Looking west down I-70 from just about above Vail.

What you see below is the Mount of the Holy Cross, south of Vail, as seen from the NE (or the top of Vail mountain!) At the right parts of the year, the "groove" is filled with snow, as are two horizontal grooves, not easily seen here... and you get a well proportioned cross. See the Wikipedia article.
